This backdrop of a busy urban society based on the economics of practical import and export was an initial reason for choosing to focus his early legal career on acting for clients on ship financing deals and advising offshore and renewable energy companies. Devandran Karunakaran qualified as a lawyer in London, England and then worked for several years in leading City law firms where he gained experience acting for banks, investors, shipowners, operators and charterers on complex multi-jurisdictional transactions. He also has experience in cross-border insolvency proceedings, having acted for creditors in Asia Pacific region liquidations. More recently, he has moved back to Singapore, where he set up his law firm - KSH Law LLP - which focuses on shipping finance, maritime dispute resolution and energy projects work. Growing up in a happy and loving household, Mr. Karunakaran learned the importance of family early. His mother was a chef specializing in authentic Southeast Asian dishes, and his father was the headmaster of an international school. He has a large extended family, most of whom still live in Singapore. Mr. Karunakaran is grateful for the opportunities he's been given and is passionate about helping others achieve their dreams. He is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and is always looking for new ways to improve himself professionally and personally.
